Position Summary

A full-time Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Bhuvic Patel, located in the newly opened Neuroscience Research Building at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our research team.

The goal of the lab is to perform detailed molecular analysis of common brain tumors such as meningiomas and pituitary adenomas using the recently developed techniques such as single cell RNA sequencing, high resolution spatial transcriptomic profiling, proteomic analysis and brain organoid models. Discoveries in these areas will lead to advances in our understanding of brain tumor biology and treatment of brain tumors. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about scientific research and looking to contribute to cutting-edge discoveries.

Assists with laboratory duties in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from the supervisor, manager or higher-level technician.

Job Description

• Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. 
• Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

$16.54 - $22.35 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
