This position is responsible for a full range of skilled plumbing work including the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, troubleshooting, and diagnosing repair of all systems involving plumbing, gas fitting, pipe fitting, and welding maintenance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and diagnose repair of all systems involving plumbing, gas fitting, pipe fitting, and welding maintenance.
• Shape, cut, ream, caulk, sweat, solder, and thread a variety of pipe types and sizes, common to the plumbing trade, and related fittings using various hand tools and power-driven machines.
• Make repairs to pipelines within College facilities as well as on the College property.
• Make repairs on various types of pumps, valves, and pressure regulators of various sizes.
• Make standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet the specifications and codes of local and state agencies having jurisdiction.
• Work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, and/or verbal instructions to plan, layout, and install piping and fixtures.
• Maintain and repair College sewer pumping stations.
• Make standard computations relating to pressure flow and size of pipe required.
• Willingness and ability to install, operate, maintain, and repair all aspects of equipment, directly connected to the various plumbing systems such as water, air, gas, vacuum drains, etc.
• Maintain, clean, and repair grease traps, water filters, and other similar plumbing equipment.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Must be able to interrelate with fellow employees and the College community as needed to get the job done. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
• Must treat fellow employees, students, and visitors to the College with respect.
• Must be willing to work extra hours when available.

Education & Experience

A High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required. A plumber’s and driver’s license are also required. Accredited trade or vocational school graduate is strongly preferred.
