Job Overview

The Communications Specialist assist in the research, development, and writing of a broad range of high level written, spoken and digital communications for the President's Office.

A member of a cross-functional writing team, the also assist with various communication tasks and projects, including drafting presidential correspondence, speeches, talking points, scripts, and other research and writing projects as required; and respond in a timely and professional manner to requests and assigned tasks.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Director of Presidential Communications and Community Engagement and to the Director of Presidential Correspondence, the Communications Specialist is an integral member of the President's Office communications team and have a role critical to the mission of the University in enabling the President and Office of the President to communicate with internal and external constituencies, as well as with members of the Board of Directors, donors, parents, and alumni.

They work in close partnership with members of the President's Office staff, as well as with colleagues across the University and external constituents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a communications field
• Excellent written communication skills
• Ability to think creatively and proactively
• Excellent research skills
• ability to work on multiple writing projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• ability to work quickly under pressure and work well in a team environment
• Keen attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
• Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
• A high degree of personal integrity and ethics and a demonstrated respect for cultural differences
• A desire to follow a steep growth trajectory
• Careful judgment and discretion to work with sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in leadership and executive communications
• Interest in the field of higher education
• Experience with project management
• Software competencies in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Airtable, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud
