Job Description
Serves as Research Project Manager for three large NIH-funded clinical research studies of human exceptional longevity under the guise of New England Centenarian Study (NECS).
- Collaborate with Principal Investigator(s) and other study investigators to plan, develop, and optimize resources, work plans, and study budgets
- Develop and manage research protocols, recruitment, consent and data collection materials
- Develop, implement, and monitor data collection tools using REDCap or FileMaker platforms, data collection forms/electronic case report forms, data management plans, data cleaning, and data corrections plans, and be responsible for all aspects of quality control review of data
- Coordinate and be primarily responsible for developing, authoring and amending the Standard Operating Procedures for all studies, and facilitate and ensure protocol adherence and achievement of study goals
- Oversees day-to-day research operations including organizing study participant visits
- Direct oversight, training, and education of staff, including research assistants and junior program managers, in data collection, data management, study methodology and procedures, and assign them daily tasks
- Manage IRB requirements and ensuring project staff are compliant with IRB requirements, preparing regulatory submissions, IRB amendments and continuing reviews, and maintain correspondence with IRB for solving problems, identify and notifying of protocol non-compliance, report safety events, and attend IRB trainings
- Prepare regulatory reports and progress reports to NIH and foundations
- Write and edit drafts of reports and assist with abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts under the direction of the PI
- Maintain project related reference lists, publications, and literature searches
- Assist with administrative duties such as overseeing purchasing and reimbursements for the study, assist with study budgets and operational expenses
- Serve as centralized point of contact for project and establish contracts with third party contractors
- Ensure appropriate communication about all project status, deadlines, data requirements, logistics and all other project-related issues, including setting agendas, running meetings, taking meeting notes, and distributing action items
Required Skills
Must have a masters degree in public health or related field.
- Must have four years experience managing people within a human research/clinical environment and caring for patients as a nurse, physician, or physician assistant. ACRP or SOCRA certified clinical research coordinator
- Three years experience managing a multi-center, NIH-funded, human research study
- Experience identifying and managing clinical emergencies and urgencies
- Developing data collection forms for research studies
- Developing and refining research studies protocol and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS)
- Scientific writing, including manuscripts, and progress report development
- Database management, electronic capture systems (EDC), and proficiency in REDCap
- Direct experience in regulatory operations and knowledge of FDA regulatory guidelines
- Creating a budget, tracking and projecting expenditures, and manage within multi-million-dollar annual budgets
