Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor WOT (without tenure due to funding) in the Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Department of Medicine. Salary and academic appointment at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Patient care will occur at Harborview Medical Center and may include both inpatient and outpatient clinical assignments. Teaching of trainees (medical students, residents, and fellows) will be expected in clinical settings. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly activities related to Gerontology or Geriatric Medicine.

Assistant Professors without tenure (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments and Associate Professors without tenure (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Anticipated start date would be April 2024 or thereafter.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The base salary range for this position at the assistant professor rank will be: $15,417-$17,334 per month ($185,004-208,008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The base salary range for this position at the associate professor rank will be: $18,000-$1667 per month ($216,000-$236,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

These ranges are inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Requirements include an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), Board Certification in Internal Medicine, and Board Eligibility or Certification (or foreign equivalent) in Geriatric Medicine. To be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
