Perform routine work in cleaning and general upkeep of Campus Academic buildings including offices, halls, conference rooms, classrooms, restrooms, locker and shower rooms. Scrub, strip, refinish and polish floors using heavy industrial-type powered scrubbing and buffing machines. Vacuum and clean carpets using industrial-type vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors. Mix cleaning solution per instruction. Collect and dispose of refuse requiring heavy physical efforts. Remove snow and ice from steps of immediate building area(s). Move objects weighing 50 pounds and occasionally more while moving furniture or setting up tables and chairs for special events. Must be able to work either City or East campus.

Position may be hired at a higher level depending upon candidate qualifications. Depending upon the level assigned, position may train and oversee work of others and:

When hired as a Custodian I, the position will receive continuous supervision and specific guidance in the process of training and development.

When hired as a Custodian II, III, or IV, the position will routinely perform the skills associated with that level.

Performance will be continuously assessed to determine the ability to perform these skills at an acceptable level.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions necessary. Must have the ability to understand cleaning chemicals and their application and dilution ratios. Ability to gain knowledge and skill to operate large cleaning equipment necessary. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
