Oversee digital programming for community engagement programs, including SciChats@Salk and develop strategies to scale programs to a global scale. Oversee scientific literacy programs, work with Salk faculty on outreach projects, and ensure efficacy of all education programs. Supervise the two education outreach specialists.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Program scaling and digital learning strategies- Oversee SciChats@Salk. Work with the community engagement, communications, and scientific staff to develop digital learning programs. Develop strategies to deliver this programming on a national scale.
• Scientific Communications- Develop new programs including a scientific literacy program “Making Sense of Science” and build out partnerships and strategies to deliver this programming to regional community and beyond. Develop Community Science projects to engage the public with Salk research. Work with the Communications team to pilot and implement a Scientific Communication certificate for Salk employees.
• Program Evaluation- Ensure all educational curriculum remains up to date and aligned with Next Generation Science Standards guidelines.
• Faculty projects- Serve as liaison to faculty members and assist in developing and implementing outreach activities specific to grants and outreach goals.
• Community Engagement- Represent that Salk Institute on STEM committees and develop new partnerships that align with the mission of Salk. Staff community events as needed.
• Special Projects- Manage special projects as assigned.
• Personnel Management - Provide supervision, training, mentorship and supervision to two Education Outreach Specialists. Ensure successful program delivery of their assigned programs.

• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

• Directly supervises 2 employees within the EO department(s).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's Degree required, Ph.D preferred, and one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Single Subject Teaching Degree in a STEM subject
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Office
• Other skills required: Next Generation Science Standards Training.

Salary Range is $67500-$88750
