Job Description Summary:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Three to four years of related experience, or a combination of relevant higher education and experience to include (15) credit hours of college level course work in science, with an emphasis in biological and microbiological science courses.
• A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

• Ability to demonstrate proper laboratory safety techniques and ensuring that good laboratory practices are being followed.
• Ability to communicate orally and verbally
• Knowledge of biological, chemical, and physical hazards and their control
• Ability to operate computer using various software packages
• Ability to safely operate scientific equipment instrumentation
• Knowledge of solution mechanics
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Proven interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and customer service skills;
• Primary/secondary diagnostic, troubleshooting, calibration/repair of scientific equipment
• Knowledge of proper handling of living and preserved specimen
• Ability to operate microscopes, fixed/variable pipettors/micropipettors

Job Requirements:

• Able to lift, bend, and stoop.
• Must be able to work the following schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:00 PM-6:30 PM Work schedule is subject to change based on department needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
• As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
• A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
