For more information, visit www.emmanuel.edu.Reporting to the Associate Dean for Library and Learning Resources, this position is responsible for selecting, acquiring and maintaining electronic and print collections to support the curriculum, learning and research needs of Emmanuel College faculty and students. Specific responsibilities include:Collection Development? Selects and acquires electronic library information resources for teaching and learning. These resources include e-book products, streaming media, databases, and electronic periodicals.? Selects and acquires all discretionary monograph purchases and responds to student and faculty requests and suggestions for the collection.? Selects and acquires print periodicals and newspapers.? Serves on the Emmanuel College Curriculum Committee and works with faculty to understand and identify their library resource needs.? Works with Associate Librarian of Reference, Instruction, and Outreach to solicit input on Library resources, especially print books, from student groups to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive collection.? With Associate Dean, maintains and revises as needed, a comprehensive collection development policy.Collection Management? Receives and processes gifts to the library.? Maintains gift policy for the library.? Plans and manages regular culling of outdated and damaged print volumes from the Library's collections to ensure monograph collection remains current and appropriately supports the curriculum? Works with cataloging librarians to ensure timely availability of new acquisitions.Acquisitions? Assists Associate Dean with materials budget preparation.? Manages materials budget, and monitors spending in materials budget lines? Prepares purchase orders for databases and other library resources.? Oversees the receipt and reconciling of invoices for physical and electronic materials? Identifies opportunities to participate in group contracts through consortiaOther? Supervises the Assessment and Special Projects Librarian (1 FTE).? Along with Associate Dean and reference librarians, serves as a resource to faculty regarding copyright compliance, incorporation of materials in LMS course sites, including use of OERs and other open access materials.? With Associate Librarian for EResource Management, uses the CORAL ERM system and other resources to maintain records on contracts, agreements and vendor relations? Assists Associate Dean and others with analyzing ROI on databases to inform ongoing decisions on acquisition and de-acquisition of online resources.? Participates in relevant consortium activities, such as collections/acquisitions-related interest groups. Emmanuel College is a member of the Fenway Library Organization ("FLO") and the Colleges of the Fenway ("COF") consortia.? Prepares reports on spending and other collection-related topics as requested by Associate Dean, including an annual report on collection development and management.? Participates in professional development activities to ensure that collection practices are in line with current best practice and technological developments.This position also has an opportunity to participate in reference service, special collections work, assessment, professional research and/or other library services activities where there is interest and sufficient time after fulfillment of core responsibilities.Our ideal candidate will possess the following:Required:? Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association or foreign equivalent? Minimum three years relevant library experience? Demonstrated familiarity with and interest in current and emerging collection development best practices, including diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in collection management? Comprehensive knowledge of library acquisitions standards and tools, including budget management? Familiarity with how library resources are accessed and used (preferably in an undergraduate context) and a commitment to removing barriers and advocating for users? Demonstrated analytical, organizational, planning, and project management skills? Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as a team member.? Commitment to effectively supporting a diverse and inclusive communityPreferred:? Supervisory experience? Familiarity with the Catholic intellectual tradition? Experience at a liberal arts college? Familiarity with the Springshare suite of software and/or the Canvas LMS? Experience with library assessment best practices? Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially SharePoint, OneDrive, and Excel?
