Job Description Summary

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for one or more faculty positions at the assistant professor level to begin in the fall semester of 2023. Higher ranks may also be considered for exceptional candidates having outstanding track records in research and teaching. The department seeks forward-looking individuals who will develop vigorous research programs; who are
skilled at translating new and exciting discoveries into effective graduate and undergraduate teaching in classrooms.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

Develop strong research and graduate educational programs.
Translate new and exciting discoveries into effective undergraduate and
graduate teaching activities both face-to-face and online.
Develop externally funded research programs. Advise graduate student research at the MS and PhD level and involve undergraduates in research.
Participation in department and university committees.
Integrate safety practices into daily activities.
Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work, as well as University and ABET Assessment activities.
Ability to learn and leverage new teaching technologies.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

An earned Ph.D. degree in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the graduate or undergraduate levels.
A sustained record of research and scholarship in a filed that is relevant to electrical or computer engineering.
Demonstrated experience successfully working with diverse individuals.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

Experience teaching courses in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and robotic engineering; post-doctoral research experience and training; successful development of competitive externally-funded grants; Industrial related experience; distinctive record of excellence in scholarly activities and teaching relative to other candidates at their career stage. Interest and experience in areas including, but not limited to Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Healthcare, Image Processing and Machining Vision for sensing and information processing, Intelligent and Smart Systems, Power Electronics, RF and Microwave Devices and Systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

Ability to teach all levels of undergraduate courses as well as graduate courses and advanced offerings in their particular areas of interest and expertise.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, professional colleagues, and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups.

The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
