The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Associate to work onsite in New York. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.

We are seeking creative and energetic undergrad or grad student in computer science or related technical field to assist with audiovisual video-recording, survey completion on smartphone, data acquisition, and data transfer. Responsibilities will also include ensuring data collection adhere to frameworks and all data collection documentation is maintained appropriately.

Successful candidate will have a master or a bachelor degree in computer science or related field of study, at least 1 year of relevant research lab experience, strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, strong organization and planning skills, careful attention to detail with strong follow-through, knowledge in file management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.

Core responsibilities will include:

• Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.

• May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.

• Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.

• Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.

• Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.

• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field (at the time of hire) required. Master's Degree in a related field preferred.

1 year of relevant research or lab experience required.

Preferred qualifications:

• Research involving clinical applications.

• Research experience in multimodal human behavior analysis, affective computing and multimodal machine learning.

The salary range for this position is $51,250.53 - $63,208.10
