The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Medicine seeks a diverse pool of nominees and applicants for the position of Professor and Chair in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology on the main campus of the Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. This is a tenure-track position. The Chair has oversight of the research, educational and service missions, and leads the faculty and staff of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology. Salary, startup funds, and laboratory space will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. We seek a recognized leader with vision, a superb academic background, and strong research credentials.
The UTHSC Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology is the hub of a vibrant Neuroscience community that expands across several Colleges at UTHSC. This institution is the flagship state-wide, public, academic health institution in Tennessee. Founded in 1911, the mission of UTHSC is to improve the health and well-being of Tennesseans and the global community by fostering integrated, collaborative, and inclusive education, research, scientific discovery, clinical care, and public service. Employing more than 4,600 people on its faculty, staff, and not-for-profit corporation faculty practice groups, and with more than 3,200 students across the state, UTHSC contributes $4 billion to the economy of Tennessee., with an investment of over $250 million in buildings and renovations occurring over the last six years on the Memphis campus.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree and meet the criteria for the ranks of Professor or Associate Professor. Required qualities are documented accomplishments in teaching, proven mentoring ability of junior faculty, and a national recognition of their research with a history of a strong independent research program in the Neurosciences and current externally funded grant awards. The successful candidate will also have a record of administrative and management abilities and have had previous leadership experience.
