The Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging at Carnegie Mellon has a postdoctoral position available starting in Spring 2022, for 1 year (extendable to 2), working with Dr. Marcel Just. The research focuses on fMRI studies of concept representations, particularly on the alterations of concept representations in people with suicidal ideation.
The successful candidate will be part of a large project, joint between Dr. Just and Dr. David Brent at the University of Pittsburgh, investigating the identifiability of suicidal ideation by detecting systematic alterations in the neural representations of certain personal concepts. The position offers training and research opportunities working with a multidisciplinary Center team with excellent technical support and research staff. This project builds on the pioneering research of the CCBI in developing methods to identify and decode concept representations of many types from their fMRI signatures, including representations of concrete objects, abstract concepts, emotions, physics concepts, numerical concepts, and procedural knowledge. Relevant publications are available at the Center's website: http://www.ccbi.cmu.edu
