Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
This position is responsible for video productions for Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. This position is responsible for productions from concept to finished product.
This position will research and conceptualize productions in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing office and the departments/offices requesting the production. The videographer is also responsible for developing production schedules, researching site locations, production setup, and ensuring that all releases, permits, and paperwork are available before production begins.
This position ensures that high-quality video and audio is collected and that all productions are edited to the highest quality and meet the University's brand standards. This position will shoot video at various events and locations and will require travel and occasional irregular hours (evenings and weekends).
Duties and Responsibilities include
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in broadcast communications or a related field and two (2) years of professional level experience in areas such as editing and producing audio and/or video for various types of media; writing feature and promotional copy; and operating video cameras. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience with audio and video equipment, either in a studio or remote field production.
- Knowledge of DSLR and digital video cameras.
- Experience using Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and related video-production elements of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to design and set lighting for an interview or B-roll scene.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word, and Outlook.
- One or more years' experience in conducting documentary-style interviews, including researching subject matter and crafting interview questions.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of team operating under strict deadline constraints.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, travel, drive long distances, work occasional irregular hours, and lift up to 50 lbs. of equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interviewing skills with a knack for drawing people out in conversation.
- Skilled in story development and concept refinement. Able to take complex stories and communicate them in simple, easy-to-follow terms.
- Ability to coordinate complex schedules (e.g., coordinate multiple interview subjects with production crew) in order to maximize efficient use of production time.
- Experience taking photos with a digital camera.
