Position Details:
Director of Facilities Operations, Vancouver Campus:
Do you have experience in campus wide facilities operations, strategic vision, and a desire to provide leadership to a great team overseeing the expanding WSU Vancouver campus? We have a Director of Facilities Operations to consider.
Summary of Duties:
The Director is responsible for cost effective delivery of Facilities Services functions to the WSU Vancouver campus. Those functions include physical plant, grounds, utility infrastructure, energy management, vehicle maintenance, and other auxiliary services as needed.
The Director is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling operating budgets in excess of $2 million. This includes assigning and monitoring the management of budget to others within the organization and being accountable for performance to budget. Also develop and support major and minor capital projects and budget requests.
Direct and oversee human resource functions, and related administrative functions.
Responsible for providing leadership and direction; planning, developing, managing and administering programs, strategies. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals and objectives. Represents the university to internal and external constituents.
The Director works under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Services (AVC).

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.
To be qualified for this position using educational equivalencies, you must have an Associates degree and eight years' progressively responsible relevant experience which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience or have a High School diploma or GED and ten years' progressively responsible relevant experience which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience.
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with oral presentation, written communication, and ability to quickly acquire working knowledge of the policies, principles and procedures of the university are required.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to communicate effectively with diverse students, staff, and faculty and community members is essential.
Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Previous experience supervising and leading a team or unit.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership/management skills.
Proven experience and strong working knowledge of policy and program development, manage departmental budgets, and developing and executing short- and long-term plans.
Demonstrated success in program and service development.
Proven ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using AiM software from AssetWorks for computerized maintenance management of preventative maintenance and reactive work.
Work experience in building construction, utility infrastructure, building envelope, building environmental systems, life safety systems and building codes.
Work experience in project management and/or facilities planning.
Experience using piggy-back provisions of State, County, or Municipal contracts.
Engineering degree from an institution accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Credential in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credential from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Master's degree in related field.
Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
