Performs follow-up insurance billing and collection activities on a minimum of 30 claims per day; makes collection calls, verifying accuracy and completeness of claims, contacts insurance companies and collection agencies in regard to expediting payments from various payers for physicianâ™s services. Responsible for follow-up on insurance billing and collection activities, verifying accuracy and completeness of claims, contacting insurance companies as well as other related duties to expedite payments from various Medicaid and Medicare payors for physician services.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs collection follow-up duties for third party payers to ensure timely and accurate payment of physician charges.
- Review patient account information, invoices, correspondence and remittances for denials and verification of accuracy.
- Utilizes the payer websites for claim submission, claim status, attachments, eligibility, and authorization/referral inquiry.Â
- Consistently works transfers from other A/R managed areas at WUSM that appear in EPIC work queues for prompt resolution.
- Consistently meets the Quality Assurance (QA) standard of 95% as established within the department.
- Consistently meets the productivity standard of working a set amount of invoices daily as established within the department.
- Interacts with PBS team members and clinical department staff to discuss issues.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager and/or supervisor. Assist with special projects.
Working Conditions
- Position works remotely, however on-site presence will be required two to three days a week.
- Work is fast-paced and demanding with time constraints and productivity requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of computers, general office equipment, telephone console, medical terminology, collection techniques and communication skills that involve dealing with confidential information.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
- Two to three years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.

C06-HSalary Range
$16.17 - $23.47 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Pre-Employment Screening
