Oversees and administers the human resource functions for the Culinary Services department of Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS); oversees all regular and temporary team member hiring and onboarding; serves as the liaison between MSU HR and departmental administrators regarding human resource policies and procedures; serves as a key team member and partners with others in creating, reviewing and implementing RHS Culinary Services strategic planning initiatives; assists with DEI initiatives for Culinary Services; processes personnel transactions in applicant tracking system and Enterprise Business System (SAP); oversees recruiting of all part-time and regular team members to ensure Culinary Services is appropriately staffed; serves as a resource to assist all team members with HR processes, issues, or concerns; supervises Unit HR Coordinators, who are responsible for the hiring and HR related duties for student and on-call employees within RHS Culinary Services; assists with disciplinary actions for Culinary Services team members as needed; attends departmental meetings as HR representative and works on any special projects assigned.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
The job requires: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or a field related to the employing unit; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions, designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience related to the field of employment.
Experience with EBS, PageUp, and PeopleAdmin software; experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA+, and gender backgrounds; ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments and multiple social identities.
