ASSISTANT DEAN FOR STUDENT SUPPORT AND ADVISING , Office of Graduate Education (OGE) , to provide support in the form of advice and referral to graduate students, serve as a liaison to departments and other offices that serve graduate students, and support graduate student-centered activities and programs. Responsibilities include providing guidance and coaching to graduate students on matters related to academic and personal well-being and consulting with and providing referrals to medical and counseling services and other offices to support students; facilitating the student leave of absence and return processes; serving as a liaison to department faculty and administrators on matters related to graduate policies/procedures; contributing to the development of protocols, programs, and procedures and providing advice on issues that impact the graduate student experience; assisting with administering the Graduate Student Short-Term Emergency Fund; collaborating with campus partners on developing and coordinating outreach and support for graduate students to identify and lower barriers to academic and personal success/satisfaction; working with graduate student groups and residences to increase their awareness and use of resources that support their development, success, and satisfaction; assisting with gathering data that informs strategic planning; representing the OGE at relevant programs/activities; and supporting/administering special projects.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : advanced degree, preferably with training and experience in counseling or student affairs at the graduate level; at least four years' experience in a university environment; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; and ability to set priorities, take initiative, manage multiple demands in a busy office, work creatively with institutional policies and apply sound judgment in dealing with administrative issues, and work effectively with diverse populations.
