The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.
Perform all functions related to roles and responsibilities as a clinical dental hygienist in the management and periodontal therapies of medically complex patients, including but not limited to oral assessment (mucosal, dental, periodontal), dental prophylaxis, scaling and soft tissue curettage, topical and local anesthesia, radiographs, fluoride varnish and subgingival antimicrobials as directed by Oral Medicine Attending Providers and under rules and responsibilities governed by Washington State Licensure.
Provide patient/family education, motivation and support relative to oral hygiene, oral complications and their management and post treatment guidelines and recommendations.
Annual licensure renewal with appropriate continuing education requirements, compliance with all Washington State and SCCA rules, regulation and educational requirements including but not limited to Blood Borne Pathogens, General Education, HIPPA, Integrity and Compliance, JACHO.
Assess patient medical condition and current medical status.
Assemble all information required for patient intake.
Assess patient oral condition relative to the medial condition and status .
Ability to provide meaningful education, information and motivation, concepts and skills
Possess integrity; Be reliable, flexible, timely and motivated; provide accurate information, efficient with time and motion; focused and attentive to detail
Excellent rapport and ability to connect with patients, family, staff and Faculty, empathetic

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance was incorporated in 1998 as a separate, jointly governed non-profit that included the cancer programs of three partners. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a cancer treatment center that unites doctors from Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s. The purpose of this organization is to provide state-of the-art patient and family centered care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care regionally and beyond. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is the only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest, and according to the National Cancer Data Base, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance patients in general have better survival rates than patients treated at other cancer treatment centers.
