The Senior ETL Developer applies data modeling and software development acumen to Campus products. Adheres to standards for ETL development to solve problems with data flows and in Oracle (and some SQL Server) database applications.
This position requires supporting the ETL needs primarily of Campus, specifically the Financial and Administrative Data Warehouse (FADW) and the reporting applications MyReports, UPlan, HR Renewals, and ICR. MyReports contains a subset of objects relating directly to Health Labor Productivity, Monthly Variance, and Hospital Purchasing. The position requires both production support, including on-call duties after hours and on weekends in rotation with other team members, troubleshooting existing products: data flow logic problems caused by unexpected or bad data; performance deficits incurred by RDMBS system environment realities and changes to available upstream data (primarily in the Operational Data Store or ODS, which contains PeopleSoft financials, UCPath payroll data, and other financial information); development of enhancements to any of the modules of our applications supporting the Financial missions of Campus products. Additionally, the candidate must be willing and able to take on new technologies, as some movement to cloud based environments may occur.
The Senior Developer in the ETL team is available to peer review others' product, fully document their own product, and perform in a self-sufficient and self-motivated manner with sensitivity to others' time when consulting team members for guidance. This position requires adherence to the support of all UCOP and UCSF IT Security, Change Management, SLA, and IT Service Management, Risk Assessment, and Audit policies and procedures, including documentation in Service Now.
The position requires performing any other duties assigned as needed by Enterprise Information Management to support the needs of the ETL team. A sample of core duties includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
* Data model design and implementation * Financial life cycle data management support (e.g. Year End and Month End closings) * Data Stage and SSIS ETL development and maintenance * Planning for migration of products between servers * Participating in Disaster Recovery tests * Working directly with Functional Team managers to intake new requirements * Working with multiple teams in IT to accommodate change over time (DBA, Infrastructure, Network, Security) * Respond to system errors 24/7 during on call rotation duty (shared with two other analysts) * Collaborate confidently in the design of new ETL product and data process workflows.
