This MMP Field Investigator position will focus on acquiring information from HIV-infected adults participating in the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP). MMP is a supplemental HIV surveillance activity funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with the goal of assessing the demographics, service utilization patterns, current health status, and recent risk behaviors of HIV-positive persons currently accessing health care. MMP Field Investigators will work with a list of randomly sampled HIV positive individuals who are both in care and out of care to identify and locate eligible participants. For sampled eligible persons who agree to participate, the Field Investigator will conduct an interview from a standardized questionnaire, either in person or over the telephone.
The Field Investigator will work with medical facility staff to locate and secure access to relevant medical records and perform medical record abstractions (MRA) from lengthy, complicated charts for all sampled eligible patients throughout the California Project Area. Occasional travel in California may be part of the position, as will the ability to effectively work with a variety of people, including healthcare administrators, clinicians, HIV-infected individuals and medical records personnel. The Field Investigator must conduct all operations in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and California law pertaining to information security and patient confidentiality, and assist with program implementation, coordination, data monitoring quality improvement, and quality control as needed.
