Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
JOB OVERVIEW The Research Associate III position for a highly experienced research scientist is to work in a collaboration between UCSF and a private company. Approximately 25 people are involved over three Bay Area sites. Job duties will be carried out at the Parnassus UCSF campus. Occasionally, meetings will occur at the other sites. The individual will work under the guidance of another senior scientist and with project leadership. Job duties will require a number of advanced skills that can be performed independently. They include human stem cell culture, microscopy (light, fluorescence, confocal and video), immunolocalization, qRT-PCR, RNA/DNA isolation, immunoblotting, and FACS analyses. The chosen candidate will also prepare samples for various types of genomic analyses, including RNA-seq, and methylation profiling. Other experiments will entail proteomic approaches relying on mass spectrometry. The successful candidate must be able to work independently at all stages of the investigation, from the inception of experiments, including their design, to the execution of the work, and concluding with data analysis. Working effectively within a team is also critical to the success of the project. This includes presenting results to the larger group and to our corporate partners.
