Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) will support ongoing research investigating the genetic and environmental determinants of dyslipidemia. Dyslipidemia, or abnormal levels of lipoprotein particles, has been linked to cardiovascular diseases as well as other conditions including diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and age-related macular degeneration.
The SRA II will perform duties involving the daily care of research animals for our in vivo research projects. These duties may include daily health monitoring, collecting other in vivo data, dosing of animals, and collecting tissue samples (bleeding and necropsy). The candidate will also run routine lab analyses, including cholesterol measurements, ELISA, molecular techniques, density gradient centrifugation, and immunoblotting. This work will involve direct handling of laboratory mice as well as human blood products.
Technical accuracy, reliability, and a willingness to learn are of the utmost importance. The candidate will work in the laboratory at the MLK Research Building.
