Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
We seek a dynamic and self-motivated Lead Molecular Biologist/Lab Manager who is looking to grow as a researcher, be supported, contribute to wet and dry lab work, and contribute to the success of a collaborative research lab. The Lead Molecular Biologist/Lab Manager assists the principal investigator (PI) and other staff with active experiments and the daily tasks related to the operation of a research laboratory and biorepository and will assume lab manager and biorepository administrator roles.
Our lab utilizes systems biology approaches to understand the phenotypic relationships (e.g., patient characteristics) with outcomes associated with chronic disease (e.g., cancer) and its treatment. The Lead Molecular Biologist/Lab Manager will have duties relevant to these goals including specimen processing, nucleic acid isolation, and standard molecular and cell biology techniques. In addition, the Lead Molecular Biologist/Lab Manager will lead the development of functional studies of candidate targets or compounds and the supporting assays (e.g., western blotting and cell culture).
With the PI's oversight, the Lead Molecular Biologist/Lab Manager will manage the lab and biorepository, which collects, stores and annotates clinical tissue specimens for use in impactful research from multiple projects (e.g., cancer symptoms, pre-term birth, type 2 diabetes). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, regular monitoring and reporting on biorepository activities, database management, maintenance of the biorepository and lab Institutional Review Board (IRB) study protocols, and distributing samples to research collaborators.
This is a unique opportunity to grow as a researcher and contribute experimentally and intellectually to the development of our research capabilities and to participate in collaborative projects in a premier research setting.
