The Assistant Team Manager, Research Management Services (RMS) supervises support staff working on grants or contracts according to established policies, practices and defined internal controls. Receives pre-determined work that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Identifies risks and responds accordingly. Provides priority setting and workflow analysis. Uses advanced contracts and grants concepts to manage high volume and high complexity transactions.
The Assistant Team Manager serves as UCSF's Authorized Organizational Representative/Signing Official (AOR/SO) for a set portfolio of departments and faculty while providing supervision to a group of Research Services Coordinators (RSCs) and RMS Associates. The Assistant Team Manager will partner with the Research Services Team Manager to manage workload distribution, report and interpret the performance and metric data, serve as an in-house subject matter expert on a variety of topics, and ensure that the Team is maintaining the highest standard of proposal and award services. Reporting to the Research Services Team Manager, the Assistant Team Manager will be assigned direct supervision of at least two RMS Associates to assist with directing and managing the proposal process for the departments served by the Assistant Team Manager. In addition to his/her leadership role, it is critical that the Assistant Team Manager serve as an exemplary RSC by ensuring timely, compliant proposal submissions and accurate, efficient award review and acceptance.
