Reporting to the Executive Director of Principal Gifts & Strategic Initiatives, in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, the Director, Capital Initiatives will act as a central locus for Parnassus Initiative planning, strategy, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and communication, and contribute also to coordinating fundraising for the Benioff Children's Hospital. They will partner closely with the offices of the Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor and UCSF's academic leadership, and will interact with a variety of teams across University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) to accomplish goals - including but not limited to Special Events, Advancement Communications, Prospect Development, Information Services, and fundraising verticals.
A functional emphasis will be placed on strong project management, high-level written and verbal communications, and reporting. Successful candidates will have a very high attention to detail; the ability to manage up and clearly articulate distilled messages to senior leadership; and manage projects, timelines, and deliverables through influence and collaboration - gathering input from a variety of constituencies and managing multiple, high-level projects under tight deadlines.
In the first month you will establish rapport with team members from across UDAR, including Principal Gifts & Strategic Initiatives and Office of the Vice Chancellor, learn to use the donor database and other technologies and processes across the office, learn about a wide variety of priority programs and key faculty initiatives across the university related to Parnassus and contribute to the execution of stakeholder meetings and general planning activities.
After six months, you will contribute to, and participate in, the planning and execution of internal and external stakeholder meetings, engaging directly with key stakeholders from across the university. You will draft targeted communications materials and project budgets, pull reports, and deliver presentations.
By the end of the first year, you have facilitated regular internal meetings, analyzed and designed progress reports and projections, drafted and/or reviewed complex targeted communications pieces and program budgets, and interacted with a wide variety of both internal and external stakeholders.
