Iowa State Universityâs Student Counseling Services is seeking applicants for an Assistant Director of Outreach position which will provide leadership and vision for the outreach services at the Student Counseling Services and serve as a member of the leadership team. This position will collaborate and coordinate with the leadership and departments in the Student Health and Wellness Unit. The position will also provide a variety of services including individual, group, career, and couples counseling; crisis intervention; outreach and consultation; and eating disorder interventions. Other duties will include supervision of practicum students, interns (APA accredited internship), as well as other administrative tasks as designated. The successful candidate will possess strong administrative, organizational, multicultural, and interpersonal skills.
Example of Duties â¢ Manages a program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the objectives of the university. â¢ Plans, monitors, and manages an internal or external project from initiation through completion. â¢ Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, and staffing for assigned program. â¢ Monitors and manages budget and ensures that the program meets the overall objectives of the university. â¢ Develops public relations initiatives, workshops, seminars, surveys, or other activities to promote the program and carry out its objectives. â¢ Acts as a representative of the program. â¢ Participates in project management. â¢ May secure external funding as needed.
Level Guidelines â¢ Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISUâs mission and department or work unit goals â¢ Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude â¢ Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action â¢ Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices â¢ Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff â¢ May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team) â¢ May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist â¢ Provides guidance to students
This position serves at the pleasure of university administration and is exempt from certain P&S policies.
