Ohio University School of Nursing seeks two non-tenure track faculty candidates with an emphasis on teaching clinicals and/or labs for the traditional 4 year undergraduate on-campus BSN program beginning Fall semester 2021. These are full-time 9 month positions at the Assistant Professor of Instruction rank on the Athens campus.
Successful candidates will be expected to provide didactic, clinical site, and/or laboratory instruction to undergraduate BSN student learners for maternal/newborn, pediatric, mental health, and/or medical-surgical learning experiences consistent with the relevant course objectives. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Meeting with course faculty to develop course expectations for students. Identifying student's needs in terms of clinical and laboratory objectives of the relevant course. Providing instruction to students in the classroom, at clinical sites, and/or in laboratory settings to acquire professional attitudes, knowledge, and skills. Assisting students in using problem-solving techniques. Using varied and appropriate clinical teaching methods effectively. Measuring and describing the quality of clinical performance objectively. *Collaborating with course faculty to effectively evaluate student performance.
The successful candidates will be required to be on campus and/or at regionally located clinical site assignments throughout the academic year (August – May).
Other teaching assignments/instructional responsibilities may be considered based on candidate expertise and/or credentials.
All School of Nursing faculty members are expected to collaboratively and actively engage in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student instruction and to participate in School of Nursing governance to ensure program standards and outcomes are fully met.
A minimum of a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited school of professional nursing is required.
An active and unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for obtaining and maintaining an Ohio RN license is required. Must have Ohio RN license prior to start date.
An ability to obtain and maintain an RN license in states other than Ohio where student clinical experience occur may also be required (e.g., West Virginia).
Licensed as an RN in the United States for a minimum of two years is required.
A minimum of two years (24 months full time equivalent) of work experience as an RN in the United States is required.
3+ years of clinical RN experience is preferred.
3+ years of teaching clinicals and/or lab instruction in a nursing program is preferred.
RN Obstetrics Certification is preferred.
