DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, this position performs a wide variety of duties in support of the Human Resources department; to be an active and collaborative partner with departments in their employment needs. The duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides exceptional telephone support with a high degree of tact and technical knowledge; response to internal and external requests, processes requests accordingly; assists in answering inquiries and directing individuals properly; greets and assists visitors and applicants; answers general questions on recruitments, benefits, policies and procedures, referring to others in the department only as needed.
Performs tasks required to assist in human resources administration including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Assists with the onboarding of new employees.
Enters data in both UKGPro and Colleague software systems; updates and maintains employee information; processes payroll notices associated with data entry.
Provides support for student employment by verifying financial aid work-awards in Colleague.
Communicates clearly with student employees and their supervisors regarding time and attendance, training, appraisals, and performance concerns.
Maintains filing for both active and terminated employees.
Processes payroll notifications for new hires, terminations, transfers, and status changes.
Maintains department confidence and safeguards operations by keeping information confidential; adheres to all safety and housekeeping policies and procedures.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Stays up to date with employment trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree is required.
One (1) year of human resources experience is required.
SHRM-CP a plus.
Human Resources experience in an educational setting is highly desirable.
Bilingual in Spanish, oral and written, is highly desirable.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, communications skills both written and verbal.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems (UKGPro).
The successful candidate must be multi-task oriented, able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff, and be able to work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with diverse constituencies and sensitivity to multi-cultural issues.
