The mission of Drake University's National Alumni Association is to engage alumni in a lifelong connection to the Drake experience by encouraging relationships among alumni, strengthening alumni relationships with the University, and promoting pride in Drake.
We are seeking a successful and energetic individual to establish and grow a dynamic volunteer program through volunteer selection and management, communication, and event programming. This individual will also be responsible for supporting our LGBTQ+ and Black Alumni Association affinity groups and helping to foster deep connections between alumni and with students. Other important responsibilities include assisting the Director of Alumni Relations with the programmatic needs of the National Alumni Board of Directors, as well as sharing responsibility for managing Drake's class and affinity reunions and organizing Drake Relays activities.
This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills. It requires an individual who excels at volunteer management, relationship building and event planning. The selected candidate should be comfortable with identifying and pursuing creative problem solving, as well possessing the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders. Additionally, the candidate will have a strong work ethic and a successful track record of building and growing programs and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, alumni, faculty, and community partners.

Lead efforts to build relationships with existing alumni volunteers and help expand and diversify the alumni volunteer network through effective outreach and enhanced volunteer experiences.
Develop and execute programs fostering strong & sustainable outreach with diverse alumni populations including but not limited to LGBTQ+ and the Black Alumni Association.
Lead Alumni volunteer efforts in support of the office of Admissions. Identify and coordinate alumni volunteers to serve as home reception hosts, panelists and letter writers across a variety of admissions programs.
Support additional programming and outreach work of the Office of Alumni Relations as needed. Availability may require frequent nights, weekends and will include some overnight travel.
Plan and execute one alumni reunion program/event annually, including management of volunteer committees, execution of events and development of communication strategies.
Support the Alumni Director in managing the needs and programs of the Drake National Alumni Board of Directors.
