The grant funded position reports to the Avanessians Director of the Data Science Institute. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for the success of the Trustworthy AI research agenda which comprises a number of research grants stemming from industry, government and foundation.
This individual will establish and manage the overall program deliverables and budget which enable the alignment and oversight of the specific projects. The Technical Project Manager will work closely with Principal Investigators to ensure that each specific project remains grant compliant and deliverables are being executed according to schedule and milestones.
Additionally this role will be expected to interface with key stakeholders to ensure we are executing according to the established budget and that the technical milestones are managed to meet the metrics required of the individual projects. The Project Manager will be expected to have a technical background in computer science and or knowledge of machine learning, AI and data science to help manage a team of faculty, students, postdocs and can adequately oversee any necessary unique facilities .
Fully responsible to ensure the overall success of the research agenda and that all stakeholder deliverables are adhered to.
Report outcomes and results to grant agencies and other key stakeholders. We will leverage the technical background of this individual to ensure information provided by Principal Investigators and Co-Principal Investigators is detailed, comprehensive and meets the requirements.
Facilitate and coordinate all necessary internal meetings to drive the research agenda forward.
Facilitate and coordinate all external meetings to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
Lead, direct, and execute grant outcome compliance and deliverables within the established budget and time-lines. Develop and implement systems (time-lines, templates and models) to gather details on the progress to include required monthly reports, as well as a summary of accomplishments to outline activity progress on a quarterly basis; develop and prepare annual budget/reports; oversee and track project milestones.
Utilize their strong interpersonal skills and expertise to advise and ensure all technical milestones are achieved.
Manages ongoing record-keeping of grant activities ensuring appropriate deliverables are being met;
Meets with senior leadership monthly to present financial reports and advise current budget needs and budget forecasting.
Interacts with key faculty to establish the mechanisms to deliver on research metrics and milestones.
May be involved in the development, review, submission and renewal of related grants, contracts and subcontract proposals.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, although an advanced degree in computer science is preferred.
The incumbent should have a minimum 4 years' experience in managing complex projects following the full life cycle methodology from inception to transition to production, post-implementation and evaluation.
Moreover, the position requires successful research management and leadership experience in University, Governmental, Industrial, or equivalent settings with strong and experienced management skills. Experience with and understanding of university research will be important for this position.
Experience in with AI, trustworthy computing and formal verification a plus.
