Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Siteman Cancer Center is seeking an organized and motivated individual to join the Biologic Therapy Core Facility (BTCF).Â The BTCF, a shared resource of the Siteman Cancer Center, operates and maintains an FDA-registered modern cleanroom designed to manufacture custom biologics for early phase clinical trials. Successful candidates will work independently or as a member of a project team to perform complex research studies, experiments and assays. This position will serve as a critical team member responsible for implementing and sustaining research projects, and upholding the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and regulations that govern all activities within the Biologic Therapy Core Facility.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Executes technical procedures to support manufacturing of custom biologics for early phase clinical trials.Â
Works alongside Principal Investigators to develop new, and improve existing, research protocols, to support project/program objectives.Â Â
Ensures laboratory activities and research protocols comply with all laboratory Quality Management System and laboratory safety objectives and procedures.
Ensures laboratory environment and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assists in training laboratory staff and/or Project Team personnel on laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with all laboratory standards.
Participates in rotating after hours âœOn Callâ schedule to facilitate laboratory projects and operations.
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards.Â The individual must be physically able to wear personal protective equipment and lift up to 25 lbs.
Experience working in a life science laboratory using standard laboratory equipment.
Experience following documented laboratory procedures.
Strong written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
Ability to participate in rotating after hours âœOn Call Systemâ (nights/weekends/holidays) to support ongoing projects and operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access).
Experience in an academic/clinical laboratory or manufacturing setting that is accredited by an external governing body (i.e. CAP) and/or FDA regulated.
Experience working in a laboratory environment governed by Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and/or Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
Experience working within a cleanroom facility or other closed system laboratory environment (i.e. animal husbandry barrier facility).
Experience with aseptic technique, cell line or primary cell culture, basic molecular biology applications, ELISA, Flow Cytometry and/or other cell sorting applications.
Experience using clinical centrifuges, automated cell counters, biosafety cabinets/fume hoods, tissue culture incubators and other general laboratory equipment.
Experience writing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Experience writing Incident Reports and implementing Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) to improve laboratory protocols and/or operations.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or as an integrated member of a team.
Masterâ™s degree with two years of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling seven years.
$17.34 - $29.50 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
