Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Manager of the Student Activities Business Oﬃce. The Student Activities Business Oﬃce (SABO) serves and supports registered clubs and organizations and other student-led organizations of the New Brunswick campus by disbursing funds and providing accounting services to its students. The Manager is responsible for the supervision and management of the daily operation of the SABO and its staff, consisting of 3 full-time professionals and student employees. Interacts daily with a diverse student population and with professional staff who advise them. The Manager makes decisions on a diverse range of transactional issues consistent with an understanding of the mission and vision of the SABO, with student learning as a primary outcome. The Manager directs and advises staff by providing solutions to transactional and financial issues in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), applicable state and federal regulations, and SABO and university policies and procedures.
Among the key duties of this position are:
Responsible for revenues, cash operations, credit card transactions, check distribution, accountholder information, account budgets, student fee allocations, and 1099 and escheat check reporting.
Approves and directs the accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions and directly reviews and approves all expense disbursements and reimbursements.
Reconciles account statements, performs bank reconciliations, and reconciles student organization ticket sale revenues.
Updates and implements policy and procedural changes to ensure proper controls of all financial transactions.
Leads the department in the training of users of the SABO on-line system, including student organization members and their professional advisors.
Serves as the custodian of the student activity fund.
Serves as the liaison for local banking relationship and resolves bank transaction issues.
Cultivates and maintains positive working relationships with all schools and departments within the New Brunswick campus.
Maintains website and other social media platforms pertaining to the SABO.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
A minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Experience in a customer service setting serving a diverse population.
Knowledge of cash operations.
Experience working in higher education student services or student affairs.
Knowledge of or experience with working with database applications.
Personal computer, telephone, scanner, credit card machine.
