Community Outreach Worker I - Contractual - (210000YQ)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore, Community Engagement Center (CEC) is seeking community workers to do outreach about COVID-19 vaccinations.
In the Fall of 2021, UMB will require all faculty, staff, and students to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions for medical or religious reasons will be processed through Human Resources.
Build rapport with neighbors and community organizations
Screen patients at the CEC and partnering organizations for vaccine interest
Engage neighbors in vaccine conversations and provide education
Canvass and identify local places where canvassing efforts would be successful
Attend community events
Connect neighbors to vaccine administration sites
Provide community referrals to the CEC or other local resources for additional supports
Follow up and build relationships - after initial conversation and post referral (in between vaccine appointments)
Obtain confirmation of vaccination and provide incentives
Facilitate transportation for neighbors to get the vaccine appointments (and return)
Assist neighbors by reducing barriers to obtaining the vaccine
Participate in morning huddles and end of day debriefs
Complete daily itineraries that track activities and outcomes for reporting to supervising nurse
Data entry and track outcomes
Education : HS Diploma/GED
Experience : Previous outreach experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Some familiarity with keyboards and electronic data entry preferred.
Candidates are expected to work outdoors in a variety of weather climates. This includes working outdoors for extended periods of time canvassing neighborhoods to engage neighbors.
Hours: 40 Hours per week. Weekend and evening hours will be required.
