RESEARCH SCIENTIST , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research , to collaborate with the lab head to determine the most suitable methods to be used in research. Will independently perform specialized scientific investigative procedures in support of assigned research projects, interpret experimental results and determine whether they are consistent with experimental goals, review pertinent literature to determine the most suitable research methods and further research goals, and prepare reports of research for presentation or publication. Responsibilities include identifying methodological problems in research protocol and assisting with implementing modifications to optimize experimental results; coordinating specialized and novel research functions; training others in complex technical protocols; preparing and presenting written/oral progress reports, including assembly, organization, and interpretation of data; using software applications to assemble, manipulate, format, and/or perform statistical analyses of standard data; configuring, operating, and/or maintaining specialized equipment; developing or leading the development of training tools; planning for and supervising laboratory employees engaged in technical and professional work and a variety of tasks; and performing other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements REQUIRED : Ph.D. in an appropriate field of science/technology, two years' related research experience, and in-depth knowledge of multiple scientific areas and of their underlying principles and concepts. Must be able to make sound decisions based on knowledge and experience, readily understand new concepts, critically review information, develop innovative processes to achieve goals, review work activities to determine where new information could improve processes or move projects forward, prepare research reports for presentation to large audiences, and draft research manuscripts.
