This position will be responsible for the application of advanced accounting knowledge and abilities in the preparation of complex regular and special invoice payments, billing, and breakeven point accounting to establish and implement cost recovery for OIT services.
Billing and Cost Recovery: Create point of sale, monthly, and annual billing polices utilizing relevant tools. Process inter- and intra-fund transfers, journal entries, and approval of journal entries to recover costs for IT services delivered to customers. Provide financial reports to IT service owners regarding the status of their cost recovery operations to demonstrate potential shortfalls or excess revenue. Process and track all deposits to OIT cost centers. Invoice Payment: Perform and oversee the payment of invoices. Track deliverables and time left on purchase orders. Work closely with IT service owners and Accounts Receivable to identify the deliverables specified in the purchase order and authorize payments to vendors. Supervise the student worker responsible for invoice payments and financial tracking for OIT. Breakeven Point Accounting: Support IT service owners in developing cost recovery model for IT services by utilizing breakeven point accounting formulas to establish the total cost of ownership (hardware, software, services, and labor), assumed customer base, and IT and/or UTA administrative subsidy. Provide IT service owners regular reporting on their current state of cost recovery related to the cost model and recommend changes to the charges to improve customer take rate and achieve cost recovery goals. Vendor Management: Responsible for monitoring the budgets associated with each departmental and campus project led by OIT. Forecast expenses and actual spend for all hardware/software/personnel. Tracks the project budget and the ongoing operational impact to the department will be expected. Special Projects: Support IT service owners and the Apptio team in developing a show back and charge back model to support the new UTA budget model. Collaborate with Business Affairs in developing a show back and charge back model to support the new UTA budget model. Support IT service owners in identifying services that should be cost recovery options versus those services covered in a general administrative cost. Participate in the annual budgeting process for OIT. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field. Four (4) years of experience in accounting and/or finance or the equivalent experience.
Bachelor's degree in accounting. Five (5) years of experience in higher education accounting.
