The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach "Beginning Ceramics" during the Fall 2021 semester. This course, an introduction to the sculptural, painterly, and functional approaches to ceramics, explores techniques in wheel throwing and construction for hand-building.
The successful candidate will hold an MFA degree and have at least three years' teaching experience at the college level, as well as knowledge of the following processes: hand-building, wheel-working, fundamentals of glaze chemistry, understanding of firing methods using both oxidation and reduction, including raku and soda. Experience with advanced knowledge of imaging on clay, including analog image-transfer techniques, silkscreen methods and digital image processing and output, a plus.
