The Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) at YU's Katz School of Science and Health welcomes applications for a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor.
The Master's in SLP is one of the few SLP programs in the country specializing in the medical aspect of speech-language pathology. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating speech, language, and communication cases. Through our hands-on curriculum, students engage in clinical fieldwork each semester and practical, hands-on experience under the guidance of faculty, supervisors, and mentors.
Responsibilities include development of course syllabi; instruction; mentorship; supervising student clinicians; acting as a liaison between academic coursework and clinical education; student recruitment and retention; and University, School, and Departmental committee service.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing and writing syllabi
Teaching graduate and undergraduate coursework
Supervising clinical fieldwork
Advising and mentoring students
Participating in student recruitment and retention initiatives
Participating in development of departmental policies
Serving on university committees and professional service
Other duties as assigned
Experience & Educational Background:
Must hold doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) or be eligible for a doctoral degree related to communication sciences and disorders
Must be a certified (CCC- SLP) member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and be eligible for New York State licensure
Previous teaching experience at the graduate level (2 + years) and strong knowledge of Canvas LMS. Familiarity with the CAA accreditation process
Clinical experience working with adult and pediatric populations. (i.e., patients with dysphagia, motor speech disorders, head and neck cancer as well as child language disorders), use of FEEs and MBSS, and supervision of graduate students
Inpatient hospital experience is highly desirable
