Job Summary/Basic Function: Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to process faculty/staff payroll, student/hourly payroll as needed, pay and file the payroll taxes and Teacher Retirement System of Texas and Employee Retirement System reports. This is accomplished by assuring timely and accurate data is entered into the payroll system, entering adjustments into the system, running reports, paying payroll taxes, reconciling tax and other payroll accounts, maintaining payroll files, filing quarterly 941 reports, billing faculty for summer insurance, Teacher Retirement System of Texas and Employee Retirement System reconciliation and payment, and performing other duties as required.
Essential Job Functions:
Processes payroll and payroll adjustments in a timely manner and in accordance with State policies and procedures.
Checks Personnel Action Forms for accuracy and completeness.
Enters payroll adjustments into system & generates payroll register.
Files documentation for payroll specialist to input voids and manual check data into the system.
Submits ACH direct deposit reversals to bank.
Processes payroll liability payments and refunds by preparing documentation.
Generates summer insurance billing for faculty and collecting payments for the same.
Assists with reversing direct deposits & voiding incorrect payroll checks by submitting reversal request to bank, running adjustment payrolls, and running reports.
Tracks payroll advances.
Submits TCC service requests.
Maintains and updates retention schedules.
Serves as backup for payroll personnel & answers employee questions regarding earnings and deductions
Performs related duties by assisting Payroll Director with special projects.
Attends meetings, training sessions, and meetings with Human resources periodically.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a related field and over five (5) years of experience in Payroll.
