Under the direction of the Director of Strength and Conditioning, this position will be responsible to assist with the daily operations of the strength and conditioning program for student-athletes; provide proper supervision and instruction on lifting technique; conduct fitness evaluations; assist in the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for specific teams as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning which includes: supervision and teaching progression, resistance, cardiovascular, speed, explosive/plyometric, flexibility and body control, secondary injury rehabilitation, record keeping and monitoring progress; assist Director and staff with weekly scheduling of teams and facility use; and act as competent mentor for yearly interns.
Bachelor's degree. One year experience at the college level (GA & intern positions accepted). CSCCA or CSCS certification required by NCAA regulations.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
60% – Design and implement yearly strength and conditioning plans, as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning. Work directly with head coaches of assigned teams to ensure that the specific strength and conditioning needs of each team are met while coordinating training sessions. Assist the Director with implementation of training for other teams. Educate student-athletes of the rules and safety requirements of the strength and conditioning weight room. 20% – Assist with athletic injury prevention and rehab protocols. Assist Sports Medicine staff with design and implementation of rehabilitation and strength and conditioning program modification. 15% – Manage nutrition station including; purchasing and stocking all products, researching new product options, and documenting and tracking all expenditure. 5% – Other Duties as Assigned. Responsible for other varied administrative duties as assigned by supervisor. In charge of producing content and site administration the Strength and Conditioning Twitter account. Accountable for staying up to date with continuing education and certifications. Cleaning and maintaining the weight room.
Various hours of work due to competitions. Occasional travel due to competitions. Special Contract terms and conditions of employment apply. Length of contract is one year, renewable, contingent on funding.
