The Residential College French Program http://www.rc.lsa.umich.edu/ is seeking to hire a lecturer I to teach one discussion section of Intensive French I for the fall 2021 only. This will be a 33.33% effort appointment.
The instructor is expected:
to design lesson plans based on the course textbook and the syllabus;
to grade written assignments (workbook, quizzes and essays);
to contribute to mid-term and end-of-term written and oral exams;
to contribute to the drafting of mid-term and end-of-term written evaluations;
to be available for office hours a minimum of two hours per section;
to participate in the program’s co-curricular activities (lunch tables and coffee hour) once or twice per week depending on teaching load.
to attend and contribute to course and program meetings.
Native or near-native proficiency in French and proven teaching experience. Preference will be given to instructors familiar with the Communicative Method, but also experienced in teaching grammatical concepts.
33.33% FTE from September 1, 2021-December 31, 2021
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
