Columbia University Irving Medical Center Institute for Genomic Medicine at the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons is a vibrant, growing Institute that is seeking to hire a Technician B. The Technician B will employ next generation sequencing (NGS) technology in support of various biological and precision medicine programs in a clinical as well as a research setting.
Prepares a variety of NGS libraries and performs sequencing on NovaSeq, MiSeq and other sequencing platforms acquired from time to time.
Performs various microarray genotyping assays and Taqman.
Extracts DNA/RNA from a variety of biospecimens such as whole blood, serum, buckle swab, saliva, and tissue samples.
Adheres to QA/QC policies and procedures required in a clinical sequencing lab.
Performs routine laboratory activities including ordering supplies, maintaining inventories, preparing reagents, and upkeeping instruments.
Performs any other assignments deemed necessary by the lab Manager/Facility Director.
Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
