Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clinic Services Representative II for the department of OB/GYNPOD at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Clinic Services Representative II performs a variety of patient registration, billing and collection duties in support of Clinical Operations. Greets and registers patients, schedules appointments, responds to routine inquiries regarding a number of operating and billing issues, receives patient payments and performs administrative tasks assigned to support effective and efficient office operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Promptly answers incoming calls in a courteous, professional and a pleasant demeanor, always identifying self, and location. Answers routine inquiries regarding physicians qualifications, available appointment times, directions to facility, etc. in accordance with written policies, refers more complex questions, as appropriate, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Utilizes computer to schedule patient appointments for a variety of providers in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with written policies and guidelines.
Maintains Computer Databases entering changes in demographic, insurance, and other information. as required.
Collects payment from patients, posts payments in the financial system, reconciles credit balance, collects outstanding patient balances and performs other routine operational tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology.
The ability to function in a team environment is required.
Basic word processing and computer skills.
At least two (2) years of relevant experience in a medical office setting.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Position requires standing, walking, sitting, use of the hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms over 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl under 1/3 of the time. Position requires lifting 1/3 of the time up to 10 pounds, and under 1/3 of the time up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: Moderate noise environment with some exposure (less than 1/3 of the time) to blood borne pathogens requiring the use of personal protective equipment; some potential exposure (less than 1/3 of the time) to hazardous waste.
Must be able to travel to multiple sites.
