The HRIS Specialist is responsible for oversight of all HRIS data integrity and production operational processes and other auxiliary reporting responsibilities related to HRIS & Payroll Services. This position will report to the Senior Director of HR Shared Services & Compensation and work collaboratively with the various Payroll/HR, Finance and ITS staff and will have contact with external auditors, vendors, benefits providers, agencies, and University contacts responsible for the payroll accounts. In addition, the position participates in HRIS business requirements writing and analysis, system testing, and change management of system implementations, upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
Review and analyze incoming earnings data from various sources such as Banner EPAFs and other requests. Run validation reports to ensure the request contains appropriate data elements. Approve and load request in a timely manner
Liaise with other payroll staff to coordinate the various production pay cycles. Manage special mass processes including adjunct faculty pay, union increases and other data testing and upload processes requiring significant planning and coordination with academic schools and administrative departments throughout the University
Interpret federal, state and local tax updates and apply appropriate changes to applicable earnings tables
Interpret and apply all university policies and procedures that relate to payroll production
Resolve individual and group pay issues such as union dues, contracts, etc and how they apply to production cycles
Assist in the testing and maintenance of the Banner HR Module, integrations with other Banner modules and 3rd party systems
Banner HR Security: Understanding Banner classes with HR job roles. Identifying the employee request and assigning the appropriation of classes to fit the job functions. Monitoring the employee job changes to be sure the banner access changed accordingly
Position Control in Banner: Perform HR and Finance-related preliminary tasks associated with Position Control. Establish the definition of a position associate with budget and accounting information with a position. Verify positions. Requisition Creation in PageUp. Maintaining Departments and organizations changes in PageUp.
FLSA tasks: Make sure the exempt and Non-exempt employee's type assigned correctly and made the changes on job and employee records
Fiscal Year End Roll tasks: New salary group setting, Create Fiscal Year End Roll rule and Run job roll process
Union Contractual Base Rate Increase: Salary/Rate Structure rules' setting and Run job roll process
Design and develop standard and ad hoc reports and dashboards using current and future reporting tools
Experience & Education Background:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, HR Management, Technology or a related field, along with at least 3 years of prior related experience is required
Prior experience with Banner and/or Kronos is a plus
Prior experience with Argos and/or Oracle SQL Developer
Thorough knowledge of Department of Labor and FLSA compliance, out of state employment requirements, employee versus independent contractor requirements and analysis
Knowledgeable of employment related laws, requirements and classifications
Skills & Competencies:
The successful candidate should possess the ability to work collaboratively in a multi departmental environment and manage numerous projects simultaneously, as well as understand the interconnectivity of workflow processing
Must be able to work under pressure while managing numerous deadlines and communicate well verbally and in writing
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Word and Excel
Use Adobe Pro to create PDF file
Ability to quickly learn and utilize new systems
Demonstrated commitment and track record in implementing continuous improvement techniques and processes
Demonstrated outstanding skills in human resources management and service delivery
SQL, queries, report design and layout, dashboards and Oracle banner database
