The Student Hourly Assistant, under general supervision, will assist the College of Business and the assistant dean with the coordination of a broad range of social media and web-based marketing tasks including the management of PVAMU College of Business social media sites, preparation of targeted communication to existing and prospective audiences across electronic and digital platforms, help in the development of social media campaigns. The candidate will contribute substantially in implementing COB social media strategy, generating traffic to its social media platforms and website, and increasing user engagement.Â The candidate will also manage approved social media platforms to communicate with and promote college-supported student clubs and organizations and work with departments and groups on and around campus about college information and social media posts.
Will serve as the lead student advisor of a team of students and professionals to assist fellow students in developing effective job search skills, resume writing, interviewing strategies, and utilizing online career resources.
Will be trained to use online and virtual platforms to assist with career preparation activities such as resume review, virtual interview, and job search strategies, and career fair preparation tips.
Will be responsible for helping assistant dean and professionals coordinate and manage the college mentoring program to increase networking opportunities among students and alumni.
Take the initiative in learning resources offered through the College of Business and Office of Career Services, including Handshake, Job Postings, virtual interview, and automated resume review platforms.
Keep up-to-date on current job search techniques career trends through assigned readings, relevant online resources, and interaction with associates.
Required Education and Experience:
Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
No prior experience necessary
For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Junior class standing or above preferred; Have completed at least two semesters at PVAMU
Major in Marketing, Management or Communications with a minor in Marketing
Internship or professional career experience
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of or willingness to learn Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other university and college-supported platforms
Excellent writing and marketing skills:Â grammar, tone, punctuation and spelling â“and ability to work within university brand and guidelines
Must be professional, dependable, organized, and able to work with little supervision and in teams.
