Davidson College seeks a Covid Testing and Care Coordinator to become a member of a close-knit team of professionals working to help the college continue to navigate its students through the pandemic. This position is a 40 hours per week position and requires the individual to work some nights and weekends.
This is a temporary position. The duration of the position depends upon continued need, but the position will not last beyond the spring semester, which ends in May 2022. The Covid Testing and Care Coordinator will be instrumental in testing, coordinating, and supporting care for students who test positive for Covid-19 or meet exposure criteria to someone who has tested positive. This person will be part of a larger team that involves numerous different departments. Good communication is essential as well as a flexible attitude, quick thinking, and a caring disposition.
Two positions are available.
Duties may vary from day-to-day and week-to-week but will span a wide range of responsibilities, regularly including many of the following tasks:
Assist with coordination of all logistics for weekly surveillance COVID testing of all unvaccinated students, working closely with an outside vendor.
Communicate with students who have not complied with mandated testing requirements and refer them to off campus resources. Follow up with all off-site test results.
Work closely with the Dean of Students office with compliance concerns.
Maintain a testing database
Assist with the coordination and training of volunteers for testing days
Provide weekly reports to Medical Director
Maintain COVID testing email correspondence
Provide support to students in isolation/quarantine and make periodic contact (virtual and in-person) with these students
Communicate instructions to students on the process of moving into the quarantine/isolation housing (e.g., when/how this will occur, building/room assignment, key access, meal ordering, trash removal, laundry, and process for resource requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance and supply them with an emergency contact information) and assist them with the physical move
Keep medical intake spreadsheets current that document the schedule for students moving into the isolation or quarantine rooms as well as their special needs
Retrieve personal items for students in isolation or quarantine such as laptop, toiletries, mail and academic supplies.
Assist with all aspects of discharging students from or transferring between isolation/quarantine, including providing students with instruction, ensuring that room keys and pulse ox equipment are returned and scheduling transportation back to residence halls when necessary.
Coordinate re-testing reminders, and test kit pickup for students while they are in Quarantine housing.
Communicate student symptom changes to Student Health should that information come to the Covid Testing and Care Coordinator directly.
Respond to student inquiries about what they are allowed and not allowed to do while in Quarantine or Isolation.
Full vaccination against Covid-19
A valid/clean driver's license to operate a motor vehicle
Ability to operate and drive a golf cart
Physical ability to carry up to 20lbs up three flights of stairs
Ability and willingness to work in a high-stress environment
Willing and able to interact in person with students in quarantine or isolation due to a diagnosis of COVID-19 or exposure to COVID-19
Ability to work with and help manage the stress and anxiety of others
Willingness and ability to wear proper PPE per guidelines by Davidson College and health officials (training will be provided)
Strong technological skills and the ability to communicate virtually with students and campus administrators via Zoom
Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement and maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to respond to campus calls within 20 minutes if on call
Proven record of strong administrative skills
Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly
Effective communications skills
Experience in health care
