Coordinate and deliver direct supplemental instructional & direct tutoring services for Math, Business, Accounting and general studies.
Collaborate with instructors on the learning outcomes for current and developing courses.
Connect students with study groups, supplemental instruction labs, and/or available tutors to initiate tutoring appointments.
Determine available academic support options, such as online study groups, individual Zoom drop-ins, structured on-campus supplemental instruction labs, and small group or individual tutoring.
Provide direct instructional support for Math/Business/Accounting or other courses as needed.
Meet with faculty and attend courses on a weekly basis (or arranged schedule) to understand curriculum, and assessments to deliver embedded tutoring.
Responsible for the day to day operations and programming of the Supplemental Instruction/Tutoring Services/Math Center (on each campus and online).
Schedule and plan SI and tutoring sessions for Math, Statistics, Accounting, and math-related content for Riverland courses in collaboration.
Hire and manage student SI leads and general tutoring as needed.
Attend Math/Business/Accounting Dept meetings.
Meet with Adult Basic Education faculty involved in the Bridges to Careers program to coordinate supplemental instruction/study labs.
Collaborate with external and internal partners including AVID, Be Your Best and R-Step to ensure tutor support for those programs.
Schedule rooms to use for trainings, such as peer tutor training as well as Math sessions for the Bridges to Careers program.
Maintain schedules of tutoring availability and facilitate posting on website, bulletin boards and D2L Brightspace.
Research best practices and methods for math study to use within the Math Center programming and training.
Stay current with the best practices of emerging methods of math tutoring through workshops and staff development opportunities.
Design materials for tutoring and presentations.
Secure materials, handouts, and software specific to supporting math courses and math content tutored in the Math Center.
Coordinate with the Tutoring Services Faculty Coordinator and Dean of Academic Affairs to determine budget needs of the Math Center, including salaries for student tutors.
Oversee the budgets for peer tutors and supplies.
Maintain accurate departmental records.
Pull reports on the numbers of students served, academic progress, and schedules that help with future planning and staffing.
Monitor student tutor data base for accuracy of contact hours.
Update student records to reflect course-specific expertise, trainings, meetings, corrections or disciplinary actions.
Maintain records of special events, workshops, and curriculum.
Oversee the dissemination, collection and compilation of student evaluations .
Provide updated lists of students and tutors to the Faculty Liaisons and Dean.
Monitor paperwork for student tutors, including financial aid work study, or student worker.
Perform general duties of the Tutoring Services department and College-wide activities.
Market Tutoring Services by hosting informational table of resources to students during River Days, Registration/Orientation events, and other campus events and by developing events and workshops for students.
Attend and participate in department meetings, as well as Math, Bridges, TRIO or other academic departments as directed by the Dean.
Actively participate in department projects that relate to the work of Tutoring Services/Math Center.
Assist with Accessibility Services such as proctoring tests, or other accommodations needed.
Explain Tutoring Services/Math Center services to tour groups and other inquiries.
Assist supervisor in writing reapplication for CRLA certification.
Assist with college activities such as Graduation, River Days, Scholarship Events, Career Day.
Participate in college-wide committees or sub-committees.
Assist students in connecting with appropriate college resources and college personnel.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, Business, Accounting or a related field plus one year teaching/tutoring/supporting students
Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse and underserved backgrounds
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook
Ability to independently coordinate multiple tasks and respond to a wide range of situations in an organized, effective manner
Master's degree in Education, Math, Business, Accounting or a related field
Experience teaching/tutoring all levels of Mathematics
Experience coordinating a CRLA Certified Tutoring Center
Experience with data collection and continuous improvement analysis
Valid Driver's license
