The School of Architecture seeks an experienced landscape designer to teach ARCH 639: Parametric modeling and simulation in Landscape Architecture, our required advanced landscape modeling and computation course (âDynamic Systemsâ). The course should expose students to the computational capacities of parametric software to analyze, generate, and represent both existing and emergent landscape systems. The ideal candidate will be able to instruct students how to use Rhino3D Grasshopper and other software tools to model, parse, and visualize both fundamental and advanced landscape systems and topologies. The class should also introduce students to simulations of dynamic landscape processes.Â
USC reserves the âAdjunctâ appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
Candidates should have a professional degree in Landscape Architecture (if an allied field such as Architecture then the candidate should be able to demonstrate landscape computational experience). Design sheets or condensed portfolio with initial application materials recommended.Â
The position is a semester-long appointment starting in mid-August 2021.Â
3-5 Design Sheets or 10 pg (max) portfolio (or link to design/research)
