The USC School of Architecture invites applicants for adjunct faculty positions in building performance simulation. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to apply performance-based design concepts and software simulation tools (e.g. Rhino+Ladybug Tools, EnergyPlus, Radiance, IES VE, custom scripting) in the process of building design, with an emphasis on environmentally responsive design strategies and climate resilience. Â
USC reserves the âAdjunctâ appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
Qualifications: A Master of Building Science degree or equivalent degree is required. Preference is given to candidates with a proven track record of research and or related professional work, prior teaching experience at recognized schools of architecture, experience with a variety of simulation workflows, and experience with projects addressing the critical need for resource-efficient housing and/or serving the needs of communities most vulnerable to impacts of climate change. Â
Applicants will be asked to submit a CV, cover letter, 3-5 references with contact information, and selected work samples (portfolio/publications; 10 MB max).
