Instructional Technologist USC Marshall School of Business Online Learning
The USC Marshall School of Business is looking for an Instructional Technologist to work with instructional design staff to develop and maintain high quality online and hybrid courses for distance learning initiatives.Â The Instructional Technologist will incorporate technical and pedagogical requirements and guide instructors through the design process using best practices by matching the instructor's subject matter expertise with the most appropriate online/hybrid delivery methods and technologies.Â
The ideal candidate will assist with technical support for faculty and instructional designers, and assist the Online Learning team in developing and implementing technology solutions for faculty. They will have significant experience utilizing and deploying educational technology in a higher education setting and supporting others in a multi-platform environment. Â
Responsibilities and Duties
Provides educational technology and troubleshooting support for faculty and program staff in developing interactive online and hybrid courses and programs
Supports faculty and program staff in the use of existing technology to successfully develop online courses.
Demonstrates ability to create and/or curate technical documentation and media assets for faculty and staff training in educational technology and learning management system functionality
Coordinates with instructional design and media production teams as necessary to develop high-value video and multimedia presentations and learning assets
Analyzes learning management system data with program staff to address curricular issues or provide reporting to leadership as needed
Recommends educational technology to program staff that enables students to meet course learning objective goals and increases student engagement in online courses
Maintains knowledge of instructional design methodologies that support student learning.
Maintains professional expertise and continuously expands knowledge in teaching and learning, electronic pedagogy, instructional design, and most recent technology-based course delivery systems, including: learning management systems, multimedia and instructional course software, adaptive learning tools, multimedia presentation, and web conferencing technologies
Attends professional workshops and meetings, sharing knowledge and networking with other online instructional design professionals to identify, contribute, and recommend new ideas or methods for enhancing curriculum
Experience supporting educational technology, specifically media creation tools and learning management systems in higher education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in instructional design, educational technology, or related fields
2 years of experience working in a higher education setting
Proficient in Canvas and Blackboard
Proficient in Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Photoshop, and Keynote.
Ability to collaborate and advise instructional designers utilizing online learning pedagogy and educational technology to achieve program goals
Proficiency in creating user documentation and maintaining a knowledge base of technical information - both in written and multimedia formats.
Extensive experience with learning management systems and customization of course pages using graphics and HTML
Extensive experience creating graphics and multimedia content using Microsoft and Adobe software applications
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Strong technical support skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task
Innovative and willing to take initiative
Organized with attention to detail
Flexible work schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends and travel as needed. Â
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related experience in supporting educational technology and/or hybrid and online teaching in a university or corporate environment. Demonstrated interpersonal, critical thinking and communication
